Housing crisis

We were observing a coconut octopus moving through the darkness when my partner gently placed two empty shells in front of it, curious to see whether it would use them for protection. Without hesitation, the octopus accepted the offer, carefully arranging the shells around itself. Seemingly pleased to have found a new home. I was thrilled to capture this moment with my camera. Suddenly, out of the darkness, a second, slightly larger coconut octopus appeared and approached the new shell owner. What followed was a fierce fight. The newcomer wrapped its tentacles around the first octopus and forcefully pulled it out of the shells, claiming the shelter for itself. Defeated, the first octopus vanished back into the darkness.
